La nueva etapa de J Balvin llegó de manera súbita pero con una actitud más fiestera y más enfocada en la esencia del cantante. Lanzado en agosto, su nuevo álbum ‘Rayo’ es una oda a todo lo que llevó a Balvin ser la estrella internacional que es hoy. El disco lleva el nombre de su primer carro. Literalmente, es el auto que lo llevó a muchas sesiones de grabación y presentaciones alrededor de la ciudad en sus comienzos. Recientemente, Balvin pimpió el carro y dió una vuelta triunfal por Medellín como metáfora a su ilustre carrera. El proyecto de 15 canciones es un throwback al reggaetón de antes, con colaboradores como Chencho Corleone, Feid, SAIKO, Zion, y Carin León. “Esto me regresó a mis raíces, pero también me llevó a dar un paso hacia una mejor versión”, dijo Balvin. Junto con el equipo de Vevo, la superestrella llegó hasta el centro histórico en la Ciudad de México para filmar una presentación súper energética y misteriosa de “Ganster”, una de las canciones estelares de ‘Rayo’. J Balvin’s new era came suddenly, with a focused attitude on the essence of his music and a direct mission to party “como antes.” Arriving in August, ‘Rayo’ is an ode to everything that has made Balvin the international star that he is today. The record is named after his first car. Quite literally, it’s the ride that took him to a lot of those early recording sessions and performances around his city. Recently, Balvin cruised around Medellin in his old whip, a strong metaphor for his rise in Colombia. The 15-track project hinges on old-school reggaeton with Chencho Corleone, Feid, SAIKO, Zion, and Carin León as collaborators. “This sent me back to my roots, but it’s also leading me into a better version of myself,” he explained. Along with Vevo’s team, the superstar arrived at the oldest section of Mexico City to film a mysterious and energetic performance of “Ganster.” While watching him weave between hazy corridors of historic architecture, one can’t help but think about Balvin’s timeless impact on a genre that he’s helped popularize around the world.
